The artist is perceived by the art. The artist is an abstract idea, defined by nothing but perception.

Is the artist the one who came up with idea?

Is the artist all those who contributed?

Is the artist defined by the art?

Is the artists defined by "the" artist?

It makes me think of how we define who's an author? Is an author not a writer? Or is an author some one who's published? But isn't the act of writing in itself a form of publishing? I don't know. We all have our perceptions of what art is, and it's going to vary from person to person. Art to me has no universal definition, but if I had to give it one can it not be the process itself that defines art? Isn't art the emotions, the consideration, the inspiration that arise from it's creation? Isn't it the idea, the realization, the resolve to take a chance to create something from a thought? Isn't it the passion, the doubt, the fear and the vulnerability felt the definition of art?
